Case study: 5 stone weight loss transformation

Jill and I started working together about a year ago, when she came to me wanting to

  • Lose weight (she was over 20 stone at that point)

  • Get rid of her wheelchair and walk freely again

  • Get rid of her joint pain

  • Reverse her type 2 diabetes

  • Improve her chronically low energy

Well - she did it!

6 months later Jill was celebrating...

  • 5 stone weight loss! (that's almost 32kg for the younguns)

  • Reversal of her type 2 diabetes (taking her HbA1c from 52 to 36)

  • Walking every day and swimming 3 x a week (bye bye wheelchair)

  • Clearer and brighter skin

  • More energy than ever

  • Much improved joint pain

So, how did she do it?!

This is a story of consistency over perfection.

Jill was not a confident cook, and she was fairly physically limited when we first started working together, so we had to take things slow and steady.

The four therapeutic aims we worked on together were:

We took an 80/20 approach - focusing on 80% consistency with her protocol and it really worked.

Weight loss shouldn't be dramatic or calorie focused (we don't want to see more than 2lb/1kg loss per week).

Any calorie deficit needs to be carefully managed so as not to further trigger imbalances with your metabolic hormones. This is why we see yoyo weight gain with calorie restricted 'diets' - the weight might fall off to begin with, but will come back (often with more) when you go back to eating normally. We cannot let the body think it's in a state of deficit or it will hold onto its resources (ie, fat), even harder!

If you're struggling with weight gain/loss or type 2 diabetes, I'd love to support you.

If you've got a history of 'dieting' and are ready to achieve sustainable weight loss for good, consider this your sign to get started!
